Italy September 2016
ROME, FLORENCE, CINQUE TERRE AND VENICE
The days I spent in Italy here were nothing short of magical. The first part of my time in Italy was spent in Rome with my EF College Break group. We explored the city together, eating our way through the gelaterias and pasterias along the way :) We made our three wishes at Trevi Fountain, went to Vatican City, gazed up at the magnificent ceiling in the Sistine Chapel, experienced the wonder of the Italian Opera, ate more gelato and pasta, learned about the history of the Roman Colosseum, and even learned how to make our own HOMEMADE pasta :) Possibly my favorite moment with our group though was belting out the lyrics to our favorite songs from the Lizzie McGuire Movie every chance we got. We sang on the bus, we sang in a bar (even got them to play the song for us), we sang on a bridge, and just about anywhere else we could. I am so thankful to have had such a fun group to spend my time in Rome with. I love you and miss you all. Rome really was what dreams are made of :)
After Rome I journeyed to Florence, Cinque Terre and Venice. Florence was beautiful but I have to say that I fell completely in love with Cinque Terre and Venice. In Cinque Terre I hiked between the towns of Monterosso and Vernazza. The hike was filled with stairs and I felt like the uphill portion would never end, but it was worth it when I finally got my first glimpse of the beautiful town of Vernazza. I spent the rest of the day in Vernazza relaxing, eating pizza and gelato, and sketching in my notebook. It was a day well spent.
Venice was a dream come true. It was even more stunningly beautiful than I imagined and I felt like I was in a dream as I walked along the canals and watched as people boarded their gondolas. I could have spent days and days just walking around venice in awe of the beauty. Im definitely looking forward to going back someday.
