Marvel at the breathtaking views of the coastal town of Oia

Before visiting the island of Santorini, I dreamed of the white and blue buildings spotting the hills of the island. I had no idea how surreal it would be to walk through the town taking it all in. Pictures really don’t do justice to Santorini’s beauty and I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the incredible views. Wandering through the town and getting lost in the beauty is a must-do when in Santorini. The crowds fill the streets, which can be a deterring factor to some, but I found the experience to be worth the battling against crowds. The vibrant colors and views of the sea still fill my dreams to this day. can’t wait for the next chance to go back.

2. Attend a Greek Wedding! Join the festivities and break some plates if you have the chance

When I traveled Greece in 2016 I was with a tour group for about 11 days.  One of my favorite events on our itinerary was the Greek Wedding Show we attended at the White Door Theater . We got to sing and dance and consume copious amounts of delicious Greek food. I can’t even count the amount of times we cheered “Opa!” or “Yamas!” The whole event was entertaining and heartwarming. We even got to dance around with the cast and break plates at the end of the production. This was an experience of a lifetime, and something I definitely will not forget 😊

3. Go Wine Tasting 🍷

Another fun activity we did while in Santorini was a Wine Tasting session with a tour of the winery. There are countless options for wine tasting in the area, and you’re bound to have a good time testing the flavors and snacking on cheese and crackers. Our tasting was with the Venetsanos Winery and was located above the port of Athinios, where the wine is shipped out of after production. We had a beautiful view to enjoy while sipping on our drinks, and there was even a shop available to pick up a take home treat.

4. Eat Authentic Greek Food

This one is a no-brainer. I’m getting hungry just thinking of all the yummy Gyros, fries, falafels and tsaziki sauce. Greece has some of my favorite food options, and you can never go wrong with a freshly prepared gyro filled with fries. The food tends to come at a bargain price too, and you can fill up without breaking the bank (always a perk). Trying the authentic food is definitely a must when in Greece!

5. Watch the Sunset Near the Sea

What’s better than watching the sun set over the Aegean Sea? Eating apple pie with ice cream while watching the sun set over the Aegean Sea. Your options for catching the sunset are pretty much unlimited in Santorini. With countless restaurants, bars and pools with a sea view, you can pretty much always enjoy the perfect view. Find a spot with an empty seat, order a snack or dessert, and enjoy the view. It will be a moment you surely won’t forget
